A Biblical Response (March 15, 2020)

A Biblical Response (March 15, 2020)

March 16, 2020

So, this is unprecedented! However, God is fully aware and working in the midst of this chaos! In this message, Pastor Joey looks at Matthew 14:22-33 and Hosea 10:12 as we identified the difference between concern and fear. God has called His children to FAITH, not fear. Yes, we are to be wise and compassionate. However, this is a time for the church (and the world) to seek the LORD!  Message preached on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at ParkerDC. Gospel Partners (#EstablishedInJesus Week 10)

Gospel Partners (#EstablishedInJesus Week 10)

March 9, 2020

Born-again believers don't thrive in isolation. We were created for Gospel community. In this final message in the Colossian's series, "Established In Jesus", Pastor Joey looks at the verbal photograph in Colossians 4:7-20. Paul mentions 8 specific ministry partners who encouraged him in ministry and played a significant role in the gospel. We are reminded that the Gospel naturally produces disciples, community and partnership in ministry. Unfortunately, we hinder Gospel maturing by not allowing and expecting others to partner in ministry! Are you a Gospel partner, connected to and serving in a local church for the glory of God?  Message preached on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at ParkerDC. For more information about ParkerDC, visit us at www.dclivelove.com and be our guest this Sunday at 11 AM as we continue to unpack the glorious Gospel!

Gospel Prayers (#EstablishedInJesus Week Nine)

Gospel Prayers (#EstablishedInJesus Week Nine)

March 2, 2020

"Evangelism is just one beggar telling another beggar where to find bread" (DT Niles). In this message from our "Established In Jesus", Pastor Joey looks at Colossians 4:2-6 and indirect (gospel prayers) and direct (gospel proclamation) evangelism. The Gospel was meant to be given away. We herald what satisfies us! If Christ is all-sufficient, then we herald the Gospel! Message preached on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at ParkerDC. Gospel Centered Relationships (#EstablishedInJesus Week 8)

Gospel Centered Relationships (#EstablishedInJesus Week 8)

February 24, 2020

The Gospel works. Jesus is more than sufficient for our eternal salvation, but also our daily transformation! In this message, Pastor Joey looks at Colossians 3:18 - 4:1 and how the Gospel changes our homes and relationships. Paul uses works like submit, love, respect, obey, and serving to communicate the example of Christ in the Gospels and the fruit of salvation in those in whom the Gospel has taken root. The Gospel changes the way we treat our spouse, our children, our parents, our co-workers, our world!  The Gospel will change you! Message preached on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at ParkerDC. The Changing Room / Part 2 (#EstablishedInJesus Week 7)

The Changing Room / Part 2 (#EstablishedInJesus Week 7)

February 18, 2020

The Gospel has the power over both the PENALTY of sin AND the POWER of sin. And thankfully, one day it will result in freedom over the PRESENCE of sin as well! The Gospel is not just for lost people. It is also for the born-again believers. In this second part of "The Changing Room", Pastor Joey looks at Colossians 3:11-17 as we unpack the relational change that occurs as a result of the fundamental spiritual transformation of the Gospel. The "put on" part of this text reminds us of the Holy Spirit's indwelling and fruit that presents as we mature in Christ. The most obvious change is in our human relationships! Message preached on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at ParkerDC. The Changing Room / Part 1 (#EstablishedInJesus Week 6)

The Changing Room / Part 1 (#EstablishedInJesus Week 6)

February 10, 2020

If the Gospel isn't changing you, are you really in Christ? In this message from the "Established In Jesus" series, Pastor Joey looks at Colossians 3:1-11 and how the Gospel not only saves us from the penalty of sin, but also the power of sin! Jesus redeems us but also sanctifies us (matures us in holiness). We are new creations in Christ Jesus and that old sin should have less and less influence on us. As we are in awe of the Gospel, we are distanced from our sin!  Message preached on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at ParkerDC. Religious Disqualification (#EstablishedInJesus Week Five)

Religious Disqualification (#EstablishedInJesus Week Five)

February 2, 2020

It is all by God's grace! In this message, Pastor Joey looks at Colossians 2:16-23 and Paul's encouragement to not allow legalism to invade the church. The Gospel doesn't need works! It has already been WORKED by Jesus Christ. Anytime we add anything to the Gospel, we seriously cheapen grace and distort the narrative. Furthermore, our sin is only combated by the Gospel transforming our heart, not traditions and man-made laws that merely are appearances.  Message preached on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at ParkerDC. Feet Firmly Planted (#EstablishedInJesus Week Four)

Feet Firmly Planted (#EstablishedInJesus Week Four)

January 27, 2020

Rooted. Built up.  Established in Jesus.  These are the descriptions of a life that is saturated in the Gospel! In this message from our "Established In Jesus" series, Pastor Joey looks at Colossians 2:1-15 and discusses the diety and sufficiency of Christ. Knowledge and wisdom are found in personally knowing Jesus as Savior and Lord. Any attempt to make our lives about ourself at the expense of the Lordship of Christ clouds the Gospel! Message preached on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at ParkerDC. For more information about DC, visit us at www.dclivelove.com a

Gospel Suffering (#EstablishedInJesus Week Three)

Gospel Suffering (#EstablishedInJesus Week Three)

January 20, 2020

It's NOT the gospel if it doesn't include suffering! In this message from the "Established In Jesus" series in Colossians, Pastor Joey looks at Colossians 1:24-29 and Paul's suffering as a result of the gospel. We discover that the Scriptures are littered full of promises regarding both suffering and glory. As a result, we formulate a "theology of suffering" to ground our life circumstances in the HOPE of the Gospel. The objective of the Christian life is not comfort or ease. It is obedience that will likely lead to suffering in some form or fashion. Are you ready to suffer for Christ? Message preached on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at ParkerDC. For more information about DC, visit us at www.dclivelove.com and be our guest this coming weekend at 11 AM as we continue in this series!

He Is (#EstablishedInJesus Week Two)

He Is (#EstablishedInJesus Week Two)

January 13, 2020

"The context of the gospel message is not our benefit or our salvation; the context of the gospel is the supremacy of Christ and the glory of God." (Matt Chandler)  In this second message from our "Established In Jesus" series in Colossians, Pastor Joey looks at this incredible description of Jesus in Colossians 1:13-26 as we discover the Supremacy, Sovereignty, Sustaining Power, and Sufficiency of Christ! This text reads like a lion that has been uncaged and ready to declare his strength. It helps us capture anew a proper view of Christ and the gospel.  Message preached on Sunday, January 12, 2020. For more information about DC, visit us at www.dclivelove.com and be our guest this Sunday at 11 AM as we continue in this gospel series.
