Christmas Promises (#VintageChristmas Week 1)

December 10, 2018

Christmas used to be simple. But as we've discovered, it appears to get more complex every year. In this mini-series Pastor Joey looks at the vintage, yet simple story of the birth of Christ. In this message, we look at Isaiah 9 and discover the promise of Christmas. In light of darkness, terrible circumstances, and discipline, God had a future plan to redeem mankind and bring the Light of the World (John 8:12) to earth as one of us. We learn that God's promises anchor our hope in the dark seasons of our life. We find that the Advent is the invasion of the Deity upon humanity and the human condition. God will do His work. He will accomplish His redemptive purposes! Message preached on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at ParkerDC. Fill Up (#JoyRide Week 8)

December 3, 2018

In this finale of our #JoyRide series, Pastor Joey looks at Philippians 4:10-20 and the joy of giving. In this incredible text, Paul gives 6 expressions of giving that represents the attitude and perspective of joy. Giving reveals a condition of hte heart. When healthy, it is cheerfully done as an act of obedience and worship. When unhealthy, as a dreadful obligation. We learn that giving is a spiritual discipline for it is really all about obedience and faith! Message preached on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at ParkerDC. Grand Theft Joy (#JoyRide Week 7)

November 26, 2018

The battle for joy is spiritual warfare. Why? Since the Enemy cannot steal the believer's soul, he will attempt to steal the next best thing, the believer's joy! In this message from the #JoyRide series, Pastor Joey looks at Philippians 4:2-9 and three toxins to joy in the maturing Christian's life... sour relationships, habitual anxiety, and a negative thought life. We can conclude that the battle for joy is a daily decision to be overwhelmed  by God's grace (and not our circumstances). Joy is found in living in the gospel! Message preached on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at ParkerDC. Keep Moving (#JoyRide Week 6)

November 19, 2018

Run Christian, run!  In this sixth message in the Joy Ride series, Pastor Joey looks at Philippians 3:12 - 4:1 and Paul's determination to continue to pursue Christ. Regardless of past successes or failures, we learn that our best days spiritually are in front of us as believers! Paul's "one thing" was not placing too much stock in our past and instead of focusing on running the race that was still before him. Complacency and neutral faith is not an option. Failure to move forward in our faith will steadily doom us to move backward in our faith! Paul paces us as believers as we see this mentality of spiritual maturity lived out in his life. We learn that our future faith is determined by our present discipline and obedience. Tomorrow's joy, then, is contingent upon today's spiritual pursuits. Caution Lights (#JoyRide Week 5)

November 12, 2018

"It is not enough to know about Christ, it is knowing Christ Himself that alone saves the soul" (Charles Spurgeon). In this fifth message from the"Joy Ride" series, Pastor Joey looks at Philippians 3:1-11 and the difference between mere knowledge and personal intimacy with Christ. Paul rehashes his pedigree of religious activity, but concludes that everything else is loss compared to that personal relationship with Christ. It isn't about legalism or religeous tradition. It's about a heart transformation! Joy is found in such intimacy. When we are growing in our knowledge of Christ privately, it will show by the attitude of Christ publicly. High Beams (#JoyRide Week 4)

November 5, 2018

Salvation is a journey. Yes, it begins by faith through God's grace (Ephesians 2:8-9), but there is a continuous action of maturing in faith. AND, there is joy in this journey. In this message from the Joy Ride series, Pastor Joey looks at Philippians 2:12-18 and unpacks Paul's encouragement to grow in Christ-likeness. When pursuing Christ and growing faith, we will not be grumblers or complainers; we will shine the light of Jesus into the world in which God has strategically placed us. Joy is found in such obedience to God's Word and growing obedience and faithfulness that impacts the unbelieving world toward Christ. Message shared on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Parker DeArmanville. Yield (#JoyRide Week 3)

October 29, 2018

Joy should be an obvious part of the Christian life! Unfortunately, however, many Christians are known for everything but their joy. In this third message from the Apostle Paul's letter to the Philippian church, Pastor Joey looks at Philippians 2:1-11 and this distinct correlation between humility and unity in the Body of Christ. Unity is so important in the church as it rallies around the gospel for the purpose of winning souls to Christ. God is noticeably glorified when the Body of Christ is obviously unified. The ultimate example of this humility and submissiveness is found in Jesus Christ. We discover that unity is a result of humility AND humility a product of the Cross! Desirable Destinations (#JoyRide Week 2)

October 15, 2018

Joy is about perspective! Unlike mere emotion, joy is grounded in a confident relationship with God and centered around the gospel. In this second message from the Joy Ride series, Pastor Joey looks at Philippians 1:12-30 and how the gospel itself changes Paul's attitude, actions, and thoughts regarding his circumstances. We learn that when we are consumed with Christ, we are naturally joyful. However, when consumed by anything else, joy will wane. Through the hardship, trials, and anxieties we can look to Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith to provide the anchor of our soul. God has strategically placed us for a gospel purpose; discovering and doing that purpose will bring the greatest joy! Are We There Yet (#JoyRide Week 1)

October 8, 2018

Our circumstances shouldn't dictate our joy, but joy our circumstances. In this first message from the #JoyRide series, Pastor Joey looks at Philippians 1:1-11 and four reasons that believers have to be joyful. Remember that joy is not just an emotional response, but a contentment and confidence in our relationship with Christ which gives Christ followers a different perspective in life. This is not a psychological approach to happiness, but a choice to live in light of the gospel! Paul's letter to the church in Philippi demonstrates his joy for what God has been doing thru the gospel in this church. Listen now to this message preached on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at ParkerDC.
