A Lost Generation (#BrokenSeries Week One)

A Lost Generation (#BrokenSeries Week One)

August 19, 2019

Boddie Baucham suggests, "Brokenness is the place to which we come when we recognize that all that we are, all that we have, and all that we do is and of ourselves is sorely and miserably insufficient... And God crushes us under the weight of our sin!"  Brokenness is seldom discussed in the modern church for it demands humility and self-awareness. But it is critical to repentance and restoration. In this pilot message from our new Broken Series in the Book of Judges, Pastor Joey looks at the spiritual condition of Israel in Judges 2 and discusses subjective moralism and the events that lead to an entire generation who did not know the LORD or His powerful acts of faithfulness. From a helicopter perspective, we discover the cycle of the Book of Judges, but also the cycle of brokenness in life. However, we need to remember that brokenness is the not the final outcome of God's grace in our life, but the turning point to restoration and peace. Let’s Talk (August 4th Pastoral Address)

Let’s Talk (August 4th Pastoral Address)

August 5, 2019

It's better to be proactive than reactive when it comes to the attitudes of a church. In this Pastoral Address, Pastor Joey looks at Ephesians 4 and Paul's call to unity and love in the church and how that displays the gospel. ParkerDC is, once again, in a time of transition. As such, we should be diligent to walk in a manner worthy of the gospel (Philippians 1:27). In this message, we are challenged to adopt five resolutions as the church. Please consider this personal commitment to be the church! Message preached on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at ParkerDC. The Gross Gospel (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said Finale)

The Gross Gospel (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said Finale)

July 29, 2019

We want Jesus without the sacrifice, the benefits without the commitment, the grace without the truth. But that's not the GOSPEL! In this finale of our "Things I Wish Jesus Never Said" series, Pastor Joey looks at John 6 and Jesus' hard statement concerning his body and blood. The clear reference is to the offense of the Cross! The Cross makes us painfully aware of our sinfulness and inability to reconcile with God without help, the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ! We cannot be truly satisfied without anything but Christ! We discover that all other means of fulfillment pales in comparison to knowing Christ and walking with daily. Mistaken Identity (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said Week 11)

Mistaken Identity (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said Week 11)

July 22, 2019

Are you ready for the Return of Christ? In this message from the "Things I Wish Jesus Never Said" series, Pastor Joey looks at Matthew 25:1-12 and a parable about the readiness of 10 bridesmaids as they awaited the arrival of the groom. Today, the Bride of Christ must be looking for with expectation the arrival of the Groom, King Jesus! Preparation is the key ingredient. Preparation demands a personal commitment to receive Christ and follow Him. It's impossible to be watchful for Christ's Return when we are so consumed with our personal lives and temporary agendas! High Altititude Faith (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said Week 10)

High Altititude Faith (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said Week 10)

July 15, 2019

There are many things we won't see if our faith is based only on what we see! In this message from the "Things I Wish Jesus Never Said" series, Pastor Joey looks at Matthew 17:14-20 and this call to mustard seed faith that grows into a deeply rooted tree of faith! Jesus is not amused by our lack of faith. He is insulted by it! It's a perversity of the goodness and sovereighnty of God! Ask yourself today, "What am I doing that really requires biblical faith?" If that's hard to answer, then you are not walking in convictional faith! Message preached on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at ParkerDC. Counting Camels (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said Week 9)

Counting Camels (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said Week 9)

July 8, 2019

Camels and needles... Perhaps one of the most misunderstood and toned down text in Scripture. Yet, Jesus is very clear about the dangers of materialism and greed and that salvation is ONLY received by faith thru grace (Eph. 2:8-9). In this message from the "Things I Wish Jesus Never Said" series, Pastor Joey looks at Mark 10:17-27 and this conversation with the rich young man. In this hyperbole, Jesus demonstrates the impossibility of salvation apart from God. It is God who saves. We cannot acquire salvation on our own. And ANY ATTEMPT will fall miserably short. Money can be a trap for it can distract us from the pursuit of Christ. Message preached on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at ParkerDC. The Worts of Worry (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said Week 8)

The Worts of Worry (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said Week 8)

June 23, 2019

One of the most challenging things Jesus ever said challenges an epidemic in our culture, that of worry and anxiety! In this message from the "Things I Wish Jesus Never Said" series, Pastor Joey looks at Matthew 6:25-34 and Jesus' COMMAND to "do not be anxious". This is not a suggestion, but a firm command to relinquish the power of stress in our life. Worry (anxiety and stress) is a sin. It is the presence of fear above the promise of God's provision! Nothing is gained by anxiety, but there is alot lost! Message preached on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at ParkerDC. What Did You Just Call Me? (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said Week Seven)

What Did You Just Call Me? (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said Week Seven)

June 17, 2019

Our behaviors, attitudes, and words either rebuke the Enemy or rebuke Christ! In this message from the "Things I Wish Jesus Never Said" series, Pastor Joey looks at Matthew 16:13-23 and this tense interaction between Jesus and Peter. Peter, who finally got the right answer in 16:16 gets distracted and rebukes Jesus in 16:22. How quickly we move from radical profession to critical opponent of Christ! Jesus' response sheds light on the spiritual battle at hand. We are in constant spiritual warfare. If the Devil can't have your soul, he will attempt to steal your witness and gospel partnership! The Offensive Jesus (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said Week Six)

The Offensive Jesus (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said Week Six)

June 10, 2019

Jesus did not come to bring His follower's peace with the unbelieving world. He came to bring peace with God! As a result, there will be an eternal conflict of interest with a God-less culture. In this message from Matthew 10:34-39, Pastor Joey looks at this tension and the cost of discipleship. In our attempt to pursue a false peace, we have compromised the holiness of God in the Christian life and in the Church! We should seek peace, but understand that this side of Heaven peace is only relative. Message preached on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at ParkerDC. Rhinestone Piggy (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said)

Rhinestone Piggy (Things I Wish Jesus Never Said)

June 3, 2019

What is the relationship between judgment and accountability? When is the appropriate time to judge (hold accountable) and when should we be silent? In this message from Matthew 7:1-6 we learn that Jesus never nulifies judgment, but encourages right judgment! What God has explicitly said, we hold as absolutes. In areas of application between these absolutes, we desperately need the Holy Spirit! Just because we are afraid to offend others, we can't dare offend God. His WORD is absolute and His SPIRIT gives guidance. Message preached on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at ParkerDC. Visit us at www.dclivelove.com and be our guest this Sunday at 11 AM for Worship Celebration.
