Let's talk about the Gospel. In 2020, we will be focused on the Gospel as is outlined in the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. In this first message of the year, Pastor Joey begins in Colossians 1:1-14 as we look at the Gospel of Truth. Truth qualifies the Gospel as "good news". It's not subjective, it's absolute and exclusive. The Gospel cuts through the deceit of sin. Truth is a person named Jesus. Truth is found in God's Holy Word. Truth matters. And when truth is foundational in our life and church, fruit is a natural response. Grace is the root of the Gospel. Faith expressed in love is the fruit! Message preached on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at DC. The Gospel begins and ends with the GLORY OF GOD! In this preface to the new "Established In Jesus" series, Pastor Joey looks at Romans 1:25-36 and the Soveriegnty of God, the Integrity of His Word, and the Mystery of the Gospel. We clearly see that the GOSPEL is not about us. It's about God FIRST! The Gospel is FOR us, but it's definitely about God's love expressed through Jesus' life, death, resurrection, and ascension. Please listen to this important message as it sets the stage for a paradigm shift in the ministry of ParkerDC. Message preached on Sunday, December 29, 2019. Join us this week as we are back on our normal schedule beginning January 5, 2020.
It's Christmas unlike most would imagine. Listen to our recent Uganda Mission Team share about their experiences in Uganda last month as we recognize that Christmas is about the Gospel FIRST and foremost. At ParkerDC, we are partnering with Four Corners Ministries to help reach the Acholi people in northern Uganda. Please consider how you might pray, give, and go and be on mission with us in Uganda! Testimonies shared on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at ParkerDC. For more information about DC, visit us at www.dclivelove.com and join us this New Year's Service this Sunday at 10 AM.
Billy Graham once said, "Our faith becomes stronger as we express it; a growing faith is a sharing faith." Andrew is the most inconspicuous of the "inner circle" of Jesus, but this disciple models "the invite" well. In this final message from the launch series to the "Who's Your One?" focus in our church, Pastor Joey looks at John 1:35-42 and how Andrew introduces his brother (the more popular Peter) to Jesus. We know very little of Andrew outside of a handful of moments in the Gospels, but his biggest impact may have been his first appearance. Andrew likely didn't lead thousands to Christ, preach many powerful sermons, or start churches. However, his brother did! And his brother's relationship with Jesus was contingent upon Andrew's invite. You see, the overwhelming size of the task should not keep us from doing our part in the mission. We are not called to save the world! However, we are commanded to tell our ONE about the Savior of the World! What if each one, reached one? The church and the Kingdom of God would look alot different if each born-again believer owned the task to introduce one person to Jesus this coming year! What exactly did Jesus come to save us from? The answer is humbling and frightening. Jesus came to save us from God's wrath, as a result of our sin. As such, our LORD didn't arrive in the manger as a feel-good story, but as the Divine Conquerer against sin and death, and HELL! In this message, Pastor Joey looks at the most unpopular doctrine of hell as described in Luke16:19-31. We learn of the atrocities of hell in this story. And as a result, we are moved to mission. If we truly understood the gravity of hell, we would do EVERYTHING in our power to keep someone from going there! Message preached on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at ParkerDC. "One lighted torch serves to light another; thus faith propagates itself" (Frederic Louis Godet). In this third message from the Who's Your One Series, Pastor Joey looks at John 1:43-50 and Jesus' pursuit of Philip and then Philip's invitation to Nathanael to "come and see". We are reminded that the local church is NOT the destination. Jesus is the ultimate destination! Anything else but Christ simply damns a person to hell. We are commanded to be intentional, to go and tell, and repent of our excuses. Message preached on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at ParkerDC. Are our behaviors inconsistent with our mission? In this second message from the Who's Your One Series, Pastor Joey looks at Luke 5:17-26 and the persistence of several friends who had to get their friend to Jesus. They are both mission-minded and expectant! Although they face multiple obstacles, they push through. We need the same kind of resiliance today! When it comes to our "one", are we willing to do whatever it takes to introduce them to Jesus? Message preached on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at ParkerDC. It's time to return back to the gospel! What exactly is the gospel though? In a world that sees many distortions of the true gospel, how can we remain true to God's work of salvation through the narrative of Jesus' life, death, resurrection, and ascension? In this new series, "Who's Your One?", Pastor Joey will help bring gospel clarity to the message and point us to our purpose as disciples of Jesus! In this pilot message, we look at Matthew 4:18-22 and the initial call to Peter, Andrew, James, and John to "follow men". This is an invitation to radically follow Christ! As we begin this focus, begin praying about your one? Who is the one person that God has laid on your heart that is lost? Would you commit to step into the gap to reach your one? Samson is proof that grace is the theme of brokenness. In this message, Pastor Joey wraps up this series with a comprehensive look at the Samson narrative in Judges 13-16 as discover how someone who God's Spirit continually rushes upon still makes dumb mistakes. Yet, God continues to pursue Samson and use Samson! God even takes our sin's consequenecs and moves us to holiness, His greatest objective in our life. In the end, that is God's prerogative... to use the redeemed to reach the unredeeemed! Message preached on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at ParkerDC. The cycle gets shorter. The road to disaster gets easier too. In this message from the Broken Series, Pastor Joey begins the Samson narrative in Judges 13-14 as we look at how habitual sin deadens us to the slavery of sin. In this familiar setting, brokenness and petition to God for help is now gone. Yet God, in His amazing grace, is still raising up salvation. The beginning of Samson's life and calling looks alot like Sarah's story, Hannah's story, Elizabeth's story, and even Mary's story in regards to Jesus. It's a birth announcement! God is doing something unique again. His Presence and Power is at work in our life, even in the midst of brokenness. And although we are imperfect and struggle with the Spirit-Flesh tension, God is still faithful! Message preached on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at ParkerDC.
